I have a website running B2BKing version 3.5.0, and I would like to update it to the latest available version.
However, I noticed that some features that were previously available are now only included in the Pro edition, which would require purchasing a license.
Before proceeding, I would like to clarify a few points regarding the upgrade process.
Since the plugin has not been updated on this website for approximately five years, I am concerned about maintaining the existing setup and functionality.
If I purchase and install the Pro version:
Will the current configuration, rules, and settings be preserved?
Is there any risk of existing functionality breaking during the upgrade process?
Will I need to reconfigure the plugin from scratch?
Do you recommend updating incrementally through older versions, or is it safe to upgrade directly to the latest release?
From what I can tell, the website is currently using the free version. Since some of the features in use appear to be available only in the current Pro version, I assume I would need to install both B2BKing Core and B2BKing Pro.
Additionally, the plugin was originally downloaded through CodeCanyon. Because of this, I am unsure whether purchasing a Pro license is sufficient to maintain compatibility and receive updates, or if I simply need to install the latest available version regardless of the licensing model.
I would appreciate any guidance on the safest migration path from version 3.5.0 to the current version.
We recommend updating directly to the latest version rather than going through older versions incrementally. Your existing configuration, rules, and settings should be preserved.
That said, the jump from 3.5.0 is significant, so I'd strongly recommend installing on a staging site first and testing thoroughly before updating the live site. Test things like registration, checkout, quote requests, etc. Many hosting providers offer a one-click staging feature, so it's worth checking with yours.
Generally I'm not expecting any major issues, but it's possible some things may work slightly differently or there could be small visual differences. If you run into anything specific, just let us know and we'll help sort it out. If you don't have a staging option, at minimum please make sure you have a full backup before updating.
(2) Regarding Core, Pro, and licensing:
A few quick points:
- The version on CodeCanyon is effectively "Pro" as well (there were some naming changes over time).
- Yes, you will need both Core (free) and Pro installed, as they work together.
- If you still have access to your CodeCanyon license and download, you can use that to get the latest version.
- Otherwise, you can purchase a license from kingsplugins.com. I noticed you have another license there already - if it helps, you can upgrade an existing 1-site license to a 3-site (or more) license: https://woocommerce-b2b-plugin.com/docs/how-to-upgrade-your-b2bking-license/
